State Tournament Schedule and Program!
(If you want to get fancy, here’s the program arranged in booklet format — just set your printer settings to Duplex (front and back) with “Short Edge Binding”. Print, fold in half, and staple in the middle!)
An Insiders’ Guide to Tennessee State Tournament 2014
Here’s your chance to show it off. We’re doing a special presentation at Closing Ceremonies at State Tournament, & we need your help! Team Managers, send ONE great photo of your team in action during the DI season, at work or play, to email@example.com by APRIL 10th. Send the photo as an attachment to the email, & in the body of the email list the team name, the school/organization, & the region the team represents.
At the registration desk in the lobby of the high school gym! Come by when you arrive so we know you’re present & accounted for…& you can check out the awesome souvenirs there, too!
It’s all in the program, & this year we are going green at State Tournament, which means we will have very limited copies of the tournament program available at registration. We’ve emailed a copy of it to you—you can print it out or, in the interest of going green, save it to your smart phone & refer to it easily! Be sure to share it with the families of your team members, too.
There are several restaurants on campus at David Lipscomb! On April 12th the food court at the Bennett student center, including Chick Fil A, Blue Coast Burrito and yes, even a Starbucks, will be open from 11am on. There are also several restaurants just across the street on Granny White Pike. Of course, you are welcome to bring your own snacks & picnic on site, weather permitting.
This year, we will have an exhibitor on site for the teams to investigate, including the Titanic Exhibit coming all the way from Pigeon Forge, TN. In fact, they will be partnering with DI to award 10 FREE TICKETS to the exhibit to one lucky team going on to Global Finals this year. The winning team will be chosen by random drawing and announced on the Tennessee DI Website and contacted directly. (And don’t forget to go watch OTHER teams perform and cheer them on, too!)
We are doing more at the state tournament this year to give our teams a taste of Global Finals! Included in that is the “Ta-Da” area, just like at Globals, where teams create a quick skit, song or other performance after they finish up their instant challenge and exit the chill-out room. There will be a tent set up to indicate where this is located and there are benches so that appreciative parents, managers, siblings and friends can cheer on their teams!
Don’t forget to have your team members bring a little spending money so they can pick up a few souvenirs of their time at State Tournament! We will have the Tennessee State T-Shirts, Trading Pins, Official Tennessee Pin Towels & more available for sale in the lobby of the gymnasium all day on April 12th.
Find out during the closing Ceremony at 5:15 p.m. Teams should line up at 4:45—Elementary Teams in the cafeteria, and Middle/Secondary teams outside the high school gym. The awards will be split into two locations this year because we have so many amazing teams! Doors open for general seating at 5 p.m. The top 2 teams in each challenge will advance to Global Finals, except for Project Outreach, in which the top 3 teams will advance.
